MIDDLE GROVE -- A Middle Grove man was arrested on Sunday for driving his car into a place of business while under the influence of drugs and alcohol, said police.

William H. Hika, 63, was charged with second-degree criminal mischief, a felony, driving while under the influence of alcohol and drugs, a misdemeanor, and making an unsafe turn, a traffic infraction.

According to a press release, the Saratoga County Sheriff's Department responded to a call about a motor vehicle crash on Lake Desolation Road at 6:37 p.m. on Sunday. Upon arriving, police discovered that the crash was the result of a domestic incident, and that Hika had intentionally driven into another person's place of business, causing damages in excess of $1,500.

He was arraigned before Judge Matthew R. Coseo in Wilton Town Court and sent to the Saratoga County Jail.
