WATERFORD -- The man struck and killed by a train Saturday morning has been identified as a man from Waterford, police said Tuesday.

Richard H. Nelson, Jr., 22, was struck and killed at the intersection of Clifton Street and First Avenue just before 5 a.m. Saturday.

After officers arrived, the victim was found and was pronounced dead at the scene.

While a release issued on Tuesday included Nelson's name, it did not include an update on the investigation.

The Waterford Police Department was being assisted in its investigation by the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office of criminal investigation, collision reconstruction and aerial drone units, along with Canadian Pacific Railway Police Department.
