GUILDLERLAND — The state Department of Transportation is planning to put its next roundabout on Route 146 in Guilderland.
The single lane roundabout with sidewalk would replace the traditional four-way intersection and traffic light that now exists on Route 146 at Lydius Street. The intersection sits on a regional commuting route about a half-mile south of the entrance ramp to Thruway Exit 25, and can experience some rush-hour congestion.
The DOT will hold a public information session from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 24 at Pine Bush Elementary School.
Project construction would begin in the spring of 2021 and include a new sidewalk along eastbound Route 146 between Coons Road and the existing sidewalk north of Jessamine Lane as well as resurfacing of Route 146 between Coons Road and the Thruway bridge.
Planners expect it to increase driver safety as it reduces traffic congestion.
