Former Shenendehowa High School star Ian Anderson was recognized Sunday as the Atlanta Braves’ pitcher of the year at the minor-league level.
The No. 3 overall pick in the 2016 MLB amateur draft, Anderson struck out 172 batters in 135 2-3 innings during a 2019 season spent pitching at the Double-A and Triple A-levels. For the year, Anderson went 8-7 with a 3.38 ERA.
Anderson also started in this year’s Future Game for the National League, and Baseball America recently recognized him as the Braves' top prospect.
The right-handed pitcher is widely expected to make his MLB debut at some point during the 2020 season.
