ALBANY — Two Schenectady residents damaged a car in Albany and stole a safe containing a gun, said police, who arrested them a month later, after receiving tips.

Kevin Wilusz, 42, and Jennifer Woods, 34, are both accused of breaking the rear window of a car parked inside the Green-Hudson Parking Garage on Hudson Avenue between Aug. 12 and Aug. 14 and taking the safe. Inside the safe, police said, was a .38-caliber handgun.

Then, at about 4:30 a.m. on Aug. 13, they damaged the sunroof of another vehicle parked inside the same garage. They were unable to get inside, but the vehicle sustained several thousand dollars worth of damage, police said.

Police credited information from tips sent to Capital Region Crime Stoppers with identifying Wilusz and Woods.

Wilusz and Woods were arrested Tuesday on one count each of fourth-degree grand larceny, second-degree criminal mischief and third-degree criminal mischief.

They were arraigned and ordered held.
