Games played for the Queensbury varsity football team after it defeated Ballston Spa 10-6 in its Class A season opener. Queensbury, which made its debut in 1962, is 243-250-7 all-time.
Yards gained for Amsterdam’s Peyton Ausfeld in Week 1, as the senior rushed for 163 and had 99 more as a receiver in the Rugged Rams’ win against Colonie. Amsterdam plays Friday night at Troy.
Distance, in yards, on Cobleskill-Richmondville’s Hunter Edwards’ first touchdown run of the season. The star senior also had a 70-yard touchdown reception as part of a three-touchdown effort in leading the Bulldogs past Schalmont in Week 1. Cobleskill-Richmondville plays Saturday at Holy Trinity.
Points Glens Falls scored in its Week 1 win against Lansingburgh. That total led all Section II teams. Glens Falls plays at Schuylerville Friday night.
Average scoring distance, in yards, on Holy Trinity quarterback Joe Tortello’s three touchdown throws in a Week 1 win against Hudson. Tortello connected for a 27-yard score and a 47-yard touchdown with Noah Foster, plus a 68-yard touchdown with Todd Williamson.
Carries that Caeden LaPietro needed to rush for 175 yards and three touchdowns in last week’s 49-13 win for Burnt Hills against Gloversville. The Spartans play Scotia-Glenville in Week 2.
Defending area champions that opened the 2019 season with a win. Shaker, Burnt Hills, Glens Falls, Cambridge/Salem and Warrensburg each won in Week 1.
Touchdowns in Week 1 for Mohonasen’s Alex Gannon. The junior scored twice rushing the ball, had a touchdown reception and returned a kick for six points. Mohonasen travels Saturday to Queensbury.
Section II teams that recorded shutouts in Week 1. Ichabod Crane, Stillwater and Warrensburg all held opponents scoreless last week.
Matchups this week between 1-0 teams in Class AA. That game sees defending area champion Shaker head to Shenendehowa for a pivotal matchup.
