Through two weeks of play in the 2019 Section II football season, here is our look at the top five teams in each classification.

CLASS AA

Shaker (No. 1, 2-0) topped Shenendehowa (No. 2, 1-1) 28-14 in Week 2 to solidify its placement atop this poll. After losing to Shaker in Week 1, Guilderland (No. 3, 1-1) rebounded with a 50-0 win against Niskayuna. Bethlehem (No. 4, 1-1) scored a surprising 30-0 win against Saratoga Springs last Friday, while CBA (No. 5, 2-0) picked up a victory against Colonie.

Last week: Shaker, Shenendehowa, Saratoga Springs, CBA, Guilderland.

CLASS A

Burnt Hills (No. 1, 2-0), Troy (No. 2, 2-0), Averill Park (No. 3, 2-0) and Queensbury (No. 4, 2-0) each secured blowout wins in Week 2. After falling to Queensbury in its opener, Ballston Spa (No. 5, 1-1) recovered with a 49-6 win at Gloversville as the Scotties head into a crucial Week 3 game at 1-1 Mohonasen.

Last week: Burnt Hills, Troy, Averill Park, Queensbury, Amsterdam.

CLASS B

Glens Falls (No. 1, 2-0) and Holy Trinity (No. 2, 2-0) each won divisional showdowns in Week 2 in decisive fashion. Meanwhile, Schuylerville (No. 3, 1-1) will look to rebound from its 34-13 loss against Glens Falls, while Cobleskill-Richmondville (No. 4, 1-1) needs to bounce back from its 55-24 defeat against Holy Trinity. Schalmont (No. 5, 1-1) collected a 10-point win against Hudson in Week 2.

Last week: Glens Falls, Schuylerville, Cobleskill, Holy Trinity, Schalmont.

CLASS C

In this classification, Cambridge/Salem (No. 1, 2-0) and Stillwater (No. 2, 2-0) appear to have established themselves as the area’s top teams. Greenwich (No. 3, 1-1), Fonda-Fultonville (No. 4, 2-0) and Voorheesville (No. 5, 1-1) are among a group of contenders within the classification’s next tier. 

Last week: Cambridge/Salem, Stillwater, Greenwich, Fonda, Canajoharie/Fort Plain.

CLASS D

Chatham (No. 1, 2-0) and Warrensburg (No. 2, 2-0) have combined to defeat foes 259-19 so far this season. Whitehall (No. 3, 2-0) beat Corinth/Fort Edward (No. 4, 1-1) 34-0 last week, while Helderberg Valley (No. 5, 0-2) hosts Whitehall this upcoming weekend.

Last week: Chatham, Warrensburg, Whitehall, Corinth/Fort Edward, Helderberg Valley.
