SCARBOUROUGH, Maine -- Officials with Hannaford supermarkets announced earlier today that the chain has issued a recall for its store brand white American cheese. Other brands that its stores sell are not included.
The recall includes Hannaford deli white American cheese that was either freshly sliced at the deli counter or sold in pre-sliced packages in the grab-and-go kiosk that were purchased between Sept. 8 and Oct. 8. Company officials say that these items may contain metal fragments and should not be consumed. They also add that no injuries nor illnesses have been reported.
Customers are encouraged to return the item to their local Hannaford store for a full refund.
