SCHENECTADY - A minivan struck a railroad crossing arm late Wednesday morning in Schenectady, dislodging it.

The crash sent the van driver to the hospital to be checked out and briefly delayed an Amtrak train, according to information available at the scene.

The crash happened just before noon on Seneca Street, at the railroad crossing between Erie Bouelvard and Foster Avenue.

The van driver was taken by ambulance to the hospital. Police reported no serious injuries.

The crossing arm fell across the tracks, briefly stopping railroad traffic. An Amtrak train could be seen waiting to pass, before it finally got the go ahead to go on its way.

Police continued to investigate the crash Wednesday afternoon.

Schenectady police were assisted at the scene by Schenectady firefighters and by railroad police.
