WARREN COUNTY -- A Bronx man led police on a chase Thursday morning where he hit speeds of up to 133 mph, state police said.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
The driver, identified as Angel A. Maysonet, 25, of the Bronx, was arrested after he crashed his car off Exit 17N at Glens Falls, state police said.
The incident began just before 10 a.m. on the Northway near Exit 26, state police said. Troopers spotted Maysonet speeding southbound and tried to catch up with him, but lost sight of him, state police said.
A second unit then spotted the vehicle between exits 19 and 20. That trooper tried to stop Maysonet but stopped the chase because of traffic conditions as Maysonet hit 131 mph, state police said. The pursuit lasted about one minute, state police said.
Maysonet then got off the Northway at Exit 17N and lost control of his vehicle. The car came to a rest in a swampy area. All occupants fled, but later returned and the driver, Maysonet, was charged.
Maysonet faces one count of unlawful fleeing an officer in a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor. He also faces multiple vehicle and traffic violations, state police said.
