SCHENECTADY -- A city man tried to break into a woman's residence last week and then threatened to shoot her and a man, authorities said.

Darell I.W. Jones, 36, of Bridge Street, was arrested last Monday and charged with first-degree attempted burglary, a felony, along with two counts of second-degree menacing, misdemeanors.

Jones is accused of pushing a window air conditioner from the woman's Crane Street window and trying to get inside, armed with a handgun, according to police allegations filed in court.

He is also accused of showing the handgun. Jones is described by police in paperwork as the woman's ex-boyfriend.

Police arrested him within about 20 minutes of the incident, police records show.

He was released Friday on $30,000 bond, records show.
