MIDDLEBURGH -- State police are asking for the public's help in an investigation into a series of vehicle larcenies in Middleburgh.

The break-ins happened at a parking area for the Vroman's Nose hiking trail on Mill Valley Road in Middleburgh Sunday, state police said.

In all, five cars were broken into and valuables taken. Each vehicle had a window smashed in and the suspect took valuables that had been in plain sight, state police said.

Troopers believe the thefts took place between 12:01 p.m. and 12:17 p.m. Sunday. Troopers also released three photos of damage from the scene.

Anyone who may have information on the incident or who may have been a victim is asked to contact the state police in Cobleskill at 518-234-9400.

Troopers also reminded the public to keep valuables out of sight if left in a vehicle.
