COLONIE -- Colonie police are investigating a fire Monday night at the vacant former Roosevelt School on Central Avenue, police said.

Firefighters were called to the structure at 2195 Central Ave. just before 9 p.m. Monday evening, police said.

The building has been vacant for some time and was not secured upon the arrival of Stanford Heights firefighters, police said. Firefighters extinguished the fire and no injuries were reported.

Inside, though, investigators found evidence that people recently had been inside; spray-painted graffiti was in the area where the fire occurred, police said.

Town police and town Department of Fire Services are investigating.

Anyone with information on the fire or who witnessed anything suspicious Monday night is asked to contact the Colonie Police Department at 518-783-2754 Ext. 8410 or the Colonie Department of Fire Services at 518-783-2712.
