Week 8 sees three classifications begin postseason play.

Section II football postseason play begins Friday night in Class A, Class B and Class C. Here are 10 numbers to know for Week 8 of the season.

Percentage of games played won this season by the eight teams making up the Class C postseason field. Four teams in that group have won at least six games this season, while none have lost more than two.

Average winning margin this season for Glens Falls. That figure leads Section II. Undefeated Glens Falls is a top seed in the Class B playoffs, and plays Hudson in a quarterfinal this week.

Area-leading touchdown passes this season for Holy Trinity senior Joe Tortello. Holy Trinity plays Broadalbin-Perth this weekend in the Class B quarterfinals.

Rushing yards per carry last week for Bethlehem’s Nick Gicewicz in a spectacular performance. In a 40-0 win against Niskayuna, Gicewicz rushed for 358 yards and five touchdowns on 22 carries.

Touchdowns scored in the last three games for Queensbury’s Jason Rodriguez. The junior running back has scored four touchdowns in each of the last three weeks for the undefeated Spartans, a top seed that plays La Salle Institute in this week’s Class A quarterfinals.

Rushing attempts Stillwater senior James Galarneau needed in last week’s first half to gain 232 yards and score the team’s first four touchdowns in a 45-7 win against Fonda-Fultonville. Overall, Galarneau had a 250-yard rushing performance on 10 attempts. Top-seeded Stillwater plays Granville this week in a Section II Class C quarterfinal.

Undefeated teams left in Section II. That small group includes Shaker, Queensbury, Glens Falls and Stillwater. In Week 7, Holy Trinity and Fonda-Fultonville each lost for the first time.

Area Class A championships Burnt Hills has won in a row. The Spartans are also a No. 3 seed for this year’s playoffs, and play at Averill Park in this week’s quarterfinals. Burnt Hills hasn’t opened a postseason run on the road since 2003.

Area Class AA teams locked into postseason spots. Shaker will be the No. 1 seed in next week’s Section II Class AA semifinals and Shenendehowa will be the No. 2 seed. After that, some combination of Bethlehem, CBA, Guilderland and Schenectady will fill the rest of the four-team field.

Schenectady win totals for both the 2017 and 2018 seasons. Schenectady brings a 4-3 overall record into its Friday matchup with 5-2 Bethlehem, and the Patriots will earn a spot in the Section II Class AA playoffs if they win Friday night and 5-2 Guilderland defeats 4-3 CBA.
