NISKAYUNA -- The driver who was seriously hurt in Monday’s two-car crash on Rosendale Road has died, police said Tuesday.

Police identified the driver who died as Khuram Hussain, 40, of Latham.

Hussain died after a noon hour crash on Rosendale, between Mohegan and River roads.

Police said Hussain’s car veered into the oncoming lane and sideswiped a car driven by Dale VanBuren, 65, of Colonie.

After the initial impact, Hussain’s car continued on, left the road and struck a tree. VanBuren’s car hit a fire hydrant and utility pole.

VanBuren was treated at the scene, but refused transport to the hospital, police said.

The cause of the crash remained under investigation Tuesday, but police said alcohol, drugs and speed don’t appear to have been contributing factors.

The crash closed the section of Rosendale for several hours afterward.
