First-half goals by Anna Lee and Taryn Ringer gave Johnstown a 2-0 lead, and the Lady Bills held on for a 2-1 victory over Greene of Section IV in the state Class C field hockey quarterfinals Saturday at Vestal.

Johnstown (19-0) is back in the state final four for the first time since 1997.

Lee gave the Lady Bills a 1-0 lead with 20:55 left in the first half. Ringer made it a two-goal lead with just over 10 minutes left in the half. Collecting the ball at the 25, Ringer dribbled in, beating four defenders and then putting the ball past goalie Brooke Austin.

Alex Brown got Greene’s goal with just under 11 minutes left in the game.

Johnstown will face Section VIII’s Carle Place next Saturday at 10 a.m. in the semifinals at Williamsville North High School.

In the Class A quarterfinals, Maine-Endwell beat Guilderland 6-0.
