SCHENECTADY - City police are asking for the public's help finding a man who robbed the Albany Street Citgo Gas Station at knife-point Saturday, police said.

The robber took money from the store's register and then demanded the clerk enter the store's back room and lock the door, police said.

No injuries were reported.

The incident happened Saturday morning at about 9:45 a.m. at the Citgo at 2501 Albany St., police said.

The man entered the store, displayed a large knife and then took the money from the register and directed the clerk to the back room.

Police described the suspect as a black male, wearing a blue and green winter coat, a turquoise undershirt, red Nike sneakers and gray sweatpants. Police also released surveillance images of the suspect.

The suspect approached the store from the area of the Dunkin Donuts and fled in the direction of 2504 Albany St., possibly toward the Home Depot, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Schenectady Police Det. Kevin Maloney at 518-382-5200 ext. 5617.

The Schenectady robbery happened three days after the Citgo station on Sacandaga Road in Scotia was robbed at gunpoint. Police there have also asked for the public's help in finding that suspect.
