SCHENECTADY -- The Schenectady Arson Task Force is seeking the public's help in an investigation into a series of small fires recently in Schenectady's East Alley.

The fires have happened in the past two weeks in East Alley between Rugby Road and The Plaza in the 3 to 4 p.m. hour, the task force said Thursday on its Facebook page.

Officials described the fires as small, nuisance type fires, such as rubbish or personal belongings being stored in garages. None of the fires have caused damage to buildings, officials said. The exact number of fires being investigated was not available.

Anyone who sees an active emergency should call 911, officials said. Anyone with information on the fires is asked to call the task force at 518-382-5141 Ext. 5815.
