A Corinth man who pleaded guilty to accidentally shooting and killing his wife last year was sentenced to five years' probation on Monday in Saratoga County Court.
Judge James A. Murphy III sentenced Eric Rosenbrock, 35, after he pleaded guilty in September to one count of criminally negligent homicide in connection to the death of Ashley Rosenbrock at their Corinth home.
In court earlier, Rosenbrock said that when the shooting happened on Nov. 16, 2018, he was preparing for a hunting trip and was getting his pistol ready when it went off as his wife sat nearby on the couch.
Ashley Rosenbrock was hit in the torso and died. State police concluded Rosenbrock was cleaning his gun at the time.
In February, Rosenbrock was indicted on one count of second-degree manslaughter. He pleaded guilty to criminally negligent homicide, a lesser charge.
