SCHENECTADY  Sophomore forwards Sam Morton and Lucas Breault have left the Union men's hockey program, head coach Rick Bennett confirmed Friday evening.

It was the latest hit for a team that has been relying heavily on a big freshman class and has struggled to find offense.

Breault, from Toronto, had two goals and two assists in 19 games last season, and has just two assists in 12 games this year.

Morton, from Benicia, California, had a goal and nine assists in 29 games last year, with two goals and one assist in 13 games this year.

He was benched for one game after a 5-1 loss to Clarkson at Messa Rink on Nov. 8.

"It was their decision, and it's unfortunate, but we're moving on," Bennett said. "The program wishes them well in the future."

The Dutchmen, who are 2-4-0 in ECAC Hockey and 3-11-0 overall, have been off since a 2-1 overtime victory at Princeton last Saturday.

Their next game is Friday, Dec. 6, at home against Brown.
