LATHAM -- Colonie Police have released the identity of the individual killed in last night's structure fire at 43 Grandview Drive in Latham via a release issued Saturday afternoon.

Roger Clemente, 68, who resided at the home, died as the result of smoke inhalation. His body was found inside the home after firefighters were able to get the fire under control. No other victims or injuries were reported.

In its initial release about the incident issued Saturday morning, Colonie Police responded to a call received at 8:09 p.m. Friday night by a neighbor for a report of "a glow from inside the house and a smoke condition on the street" to find the back of the residence "heavily involved with fire."

Members of the Latham, Fuller Road and Shaker Road-Loudonville fire departments responded to the scene and entered the home, but were quickly forced back outside due to the flames.

Both the Colonie Fire Services and Colonie Police Department Fire Investigators were still at the scene Saturday morning to determine the fire's cause.

This story will be updated as additional information is received.
