SALISBURY, Md. — The Union College football team tried to match Salisbury University touchdown for touchdown in the second round of the NCAA Division III playoffs. But in the end, the sixth-ranked Sea Gulls were too much for the No. 13/14 Dutchmen.

Union’s season came to an end Saturday with a 62-41 loss to the Sea Gulls. The Dutchmen, who had won 14 straight games dating back to last season, finish the year 11-1.

The game was a constant display of offense, as the two teams combined for 42 points in the first quarter alone, which ended 21-21. Ten of the 16 drives, between the two teams, in the first half resulted in touchdowns, including a streak of four consecutive TD drives in the first quarter.

Salisbury took control in the second quarter, outscoring Union 21-7 to take a 42-28 halftime lead.

The 41 points scored by Union was the second most for the Dutchmen this season, and the most allowed by the Sea Gulls.

The Dutchmen set a program record for total offense in a single game with 531 yards. Junior quarterback William Bellamy set a school record for passing yards in a single game, throwing for 456 yards and five touchdowns. The previous record was 418 yards set by Anthony Marotti in 2004.

Andre Ross Jr. caught two touchdown passes and tallied 219 yards receiving.

Finn Duran, Griffin Beal and Spencer Crystal each had one touchdown catch as well.

The Sea Gulls limited Ike Irabor to 68 yards rushing. Irabor scored one touchdown on a fourth down midway through the fourth quarter.

Mike-Ryan Mofor and Michael Fowler each scored three touchdowns for the Sea Gulls (11-0), who will play Muhlenburg in the quarterfinals next Saturday.
