COLONIE - An Albany man attempted to rob the Colonie Chili's and Taco Bell Wednesday, police said.
The man, identified as Rheuben J. Bowling, 52, of Albany, demanded cash at both restaurants while keeping his hand inside his coat, police said. He fled from each without getting anything.
The first incident happened just before 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Chili's restaurant, 60 Wolf Road, police said. Restaurant staff reported that a man had just attempted to rob them by passing a note demanding money while holding his hand in his coat. The man also verbally told them that no one would get hurt if they complied with his demands, police said.
The suspect, however, fled before getting any money, police said.
Shortly afterward, the man entered the Taco Bell, 56 Wolf Road, and attempted a similar robbery, and also left without any money, police said. Officers in the area immediately responded to the Taco Bell and arrested him as he left the building, police said.
No weapon was displayed in either attempt and no one was hurt, police said. Police recovered the robbery note.
Bowling was arrested and charged with two counts of third-degree attempted robbery, felonies. He was arraigned and held.
