NISKAYUNA - A stretch of Balltown Road closed after a Thursday morning crash was expected to fully reopen around 6 p.m. Thursday, police said.

The crash had both directions shut for much of the day. Northbound traffic resumed at about 3:20 p.m., while southbound traffic was expected to resume by 6 p.m., police said.

The crash happened at about 9:45 a.m. at Balltown Road and Riley Way. A car driven by Saratoga Springs resident Cassandra Honsinger, 33, left the road and hit a utility pole, police said.

Honsinger suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Albany Medical Center for treatment, police said.

The crash snapped the pole and downed wires, prompting the closure and hours of repairs, police said.

Police cited Honsinger for failure to use designated lane and second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation.
