GLENVILLE -- A Glenville dentist office suffered extensive damage in a fire Monday. No injuries were reported.
Firefighters were called to the office of Glenville Smiles, 170 Saratoga Road, just before 9:30 a.m. by a passerby who reported smoke coming from a building, East Glenville Fire Chief Ross Thornhill said.
No one was in the building at the time as the dentist office was to be closed this week, Thornhill said.
Firefighters arrived to find smoke coming from the second floor; they entered the structure and encountered smoke on the first floor and fire in the center of the building, Thornhill said.
Firefighters had the fire extinguished about a half hour, Thornhill said. They confined the blaze to the center part of the building.
Thornhill described extensive damage through the center of the structure and smoke damage elsewhere, but much of the office's items could be salvaged, he said.
East Glenville firefighters were assisted by fire departments from Alplaus, Thomas Corners, Stratton, Scotia, West Glenville and Charlton.
