HALFMOON - A Cohoes man was killed in an early Friday crash on the Northway in Halfmoon, state police said.

Occupants of a second vehicle involved escaped injury, state police said.

State police identified the driver killed as Rayquan D. Murphy, 24, of Cohoes.

The crash happened just before 12:30 a.m. Friday just south of Exit 8 in Halfmoon, state police said.

The state police preliminary investigation determined Murphy was headed south when he struck the second vehicle involved from behind. Murphy was then unable to maintain control of his vehicle and it rolled several times, exiting the western shoulder of the roadway, state police said.

Murphy was the sole occupant of the vehicle. He died at the scene, state police said.

Speed is believed to have been a factor.

The crash remained under investigation, state police said.
