TOWN OF FLORIDA - A Ballston Spa man drove drunk and crashed his car last week with his 14-year-old child in the car, Montgomery County Sheriff's officials said this week.

Both the driver and teenage passenger were evaluated at the scene, but refused treatment, officials said.

Arrested was Rick L. Morgan, 32, of Ballston Spa. He faces one count of aggravated driving while intoxicated under Leandra's Law, misdemeanor driving while ability impaired and a traffic infraction, officials said.

The incident happened at about 2 a.m. Dec. 29 on Route 5S in the town of Florida, sheriff's officials said in the release this week. Dispatchers received a 911 call for a single-car crash. Deputies arrived to find Morgan and the 14-year-old in the vehicle.

Morgan than failed field sobriety tests and was determined to be under the influence of drugs, officials said.

He was processed and later released to a sober third party to appear in court later.
