MALTA - A New Hampshire man illegally possessed a loaded handgun during altercations at two sites in Malta, Saratoga County Sheriff's officials said.

Jake B. Sweeney, 31, of Claremont, N.H., was arrested and charged with one count of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony, officials said Thursday.

Sweeney was arrested after deputies responded to a complaint of a disturbance at the Grand Prix motel and the Round Lake Inn in Malta, officials said. A release did not include the time of the call.

Sweeney was alleged to have possessed a loaded firearm during an altercation with other unrelated people at both locations, officials said.

Sweeney was arraigned and ordered held on $15,000 bail.
