CORINTH - State forest rangers rescued a lost mother and daughter hiking Spruce Mountain in Saratoga County Sunday, the  state Department of Environmental Conservation said Tuesday.

No injuries were reported.

The incident happened at about 1:15 p.m. Sunday as the two hikers reported they were lost on the mountain. The call came in to Saratoga County 911 and coordinates placed the hikers near the old Spruce Mountain Road, the DEC said.

The mother and daughter, from Latham, had taken the wrong trail for the summit and became disoriented on the climb, the DEC said.

Forest Ranger Joe Hess responded to the trail head along with three Saratoga County sheriff's deputies and they headed for the hikers' last known coordinates.

The rescue crew located the mother and daughter just after 3 p.m. and started walking the pair to the trail head. There, they were evaluated by Corinth EMS and released, the DEC said.
