SCHENECTADY — Ed Alger, Al Burnham and Joe Zelezniak will be inducted into the Schenectady City School District Athletic Hall of Fame Sept. 14 at Glen Sanders Mansion in Scotia.

The Hall of Fame committee announced the 2020 class Wednesday. A legacy tribute honoring Linton High School’s undefeated 1969-70 basketball team will also be part of the induction ceremony.

Alger was a multi-champion cross country and track performer at Mont Pleasant who continued his running career at Syracuse University. Burnham excelled in football and baseball while at Nott Terrace High School and played minor league baseball in the Dodgers organization.

Zelezniak lettered in football, baseball and track and field at Mont Pleasant, and is among the best shot put and discus athletes to ever come out of the Capital Region.

Linton’s 1969-70 basketball team went 22-0, finished with a No. 1 state rank, and featured past SCSD Athletic Hall of Fame inductees Walt Przybylo and Sidney Edwards.
