MOREAU - Three people have been arrested in connection with the theft of an ATV from a resident in Moreau, after the resident spotted the stolen machine for sale on Facebook Marketplace, state police said.
The theft happened in August and troopers recently arrested the third man in the scheme, concluding the investigation, state police said.
Arrested and charged with fourth-degree grand larceny were: Taylor S. Brown, 21, of Glens Falls, Stanley Holcomb Jr., 32, of Fort Ann, and Phillip R. Scoville III, 31, of Hudson Falls.
The investigation began with the report from the Moreau resident that their ATV had been stolen from their yard, state police said. The resident then spotted the ATV for sale on Facebook.
Troopers investigated, but the ATV had been sold or traded multiple times after the initial theft. Investigators, however, finally tracked it down and recovered it, state police said.
The investigation then led to Brown, Holcomb and Scoville. Scovill was the last of the three arrested, taken into custody Thursday. Scoville was arraigned and released on his own recognizance. He is due back in court later this month. The release did not give the dates of Brown's and Holcomb's arrests.
