SCHENECTADY - Firefighters rescued two dogs from a house fire on Elmer Avenue Wednesday.

Firefighters had both dogs in crates outside as they worked to douse the flames inside. No injuries were immediately reported.

Firefighters were called to the residence at 157 Elmer Ave. at about 12:20 p.m. by neighbors who reported smoke coming from the roof, according to information available at the scene. No one was home at the time.

Firefighters arrived to find a fire in the attic, then worked to put it out.
