Starting at 5 p.m. on Friday, gatherings of 500 or more people will not be permitted.

The directive was announced earlier today by Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo. He added that the legal capacity for facilities with an occupancy of 500 or fewer will be reduced by 50%. 

Locally, many concert venues will be impacted. This story will be updated as more details are announced.

A chronological list of events that have been CANCELLED is below; a similar list for events and activities that have been postponed follows: 

Friday, March 13

  • The full run of Schenectady Light Opera Company's production of "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum," which was originally scheduled to open tonight

Saturday, March 14

  • The 70th annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Albany
  • The “Women of Science” event at the New York State Museum in Albany
  • The Mac-n-Cheese Bowl at Siena College
  • Former GE employee George Wise’s presentation about Thomas Edison and George Westinghouse at the Schenectady County Historical Society
  • Albany Symphony concert at the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall
  • Granger Smith show at Frog Alley Brewing at 108 State Street in Schenectady; its Kegs and Eggs event at 9 a.m. will go on as planned. 
  • Fetty Wap concert at Upstate Music Hall in Clifton Park

Sunday, March 15

  • Albany Symphony concert at the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall

Wednesday, March 18

  • Postmodern Jukebox’s concert at the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall

Thursday, March 19

  • Saratoga Arts 2020 Grant Awards Reception at the organization’s headquarters at 320 Broadway in Saratoga Springs

Friday, March 20

  • Capital Region Classical’s performance by the Belcea Quartet at Union College

Saturday, March 21

  • Capital Region Classical’s performance by the Belcea Quartet at Union College

Sunday, March 22

  • Albany Symphony’s Sunday Symphony Family Concert at the Zankel Music Center on the Skidmore College campus
  • Music from Salem Spring Concert at Hubbard Hall in Cambridge
  • Capital Region Classical’s performance by the Belcea Quartet at Union College

Saturday, March 28

  • Maple Day at Mabee Farm Historical Site in Rotterdam Junction

Wednesday, April 1

  • Empire State Youth Orchestra’s Young People’s and Seniors’ concerts at Proctors in Schenectady 

Thursday, April 16

  • Delia Owens, author of “Where the Crawdads Sing,” will not be appearing at SUNY Schenectady for an event organized by the Friends of the Schenectady County Public Library. 

 

In addition to the above event cancellations, the following organizations and venues have cancelled either ongoing series or other activities: 

  • The Troy Friends of Chamber Music 2020 Season
  • The Local Actors Guild of Saratoga’s production of “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf” at Saratoga Arts
  • Tours and public events at the Clark Art Institute in Williamstown, Mass.; the museum itself remains open. 
  • Officials with the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, Mass., announced Thursday that the museum will be closed temporarily. They will reevaluate the situation on April 1. 

The following events and activities have been POSTPONED; rescheduled dates are included if available:

Friday, March 13

  • Letterkenny Live and Dustbowl Revival performances at The Egg Performing Arts Center
  • Skillet’s performance at Upstate Concert Hall in Clifton Park has been rescheduled for July 16. 
  • The County Classroom’s Silent Auction and Craft Beer Social has been postponed; its online auction is not impacted. 

Saturday, March 14

  • “The Science and Wizardry of Harry Potter” at miSci; the event has been rescheduled for June 13. If you have purchased tickets and are unable to attend on the rescheduled date, please contact miSci at either 518-382-7890 ext. 254 or [email protected]
  • Cirque D’Or at The Egg Performing Arts Center

Sunday, March 15

  • New York City Ballet’s performance of “Sleeping Beauty” at The Egg Performing Arts Center
  • Mohawk Valley Chorus’ performance at the United Presbyterian Church in Amsterdam

Saturday, March 21

  • “Kurt Vonnegut in Schenectady” presentation by Alplaus Historian Jessica Polmateer at the Schenectady County Historical Society; postponed until Jan. 2021

Sunday, March 22

  • Michael Buble’s concert at the Times Union Center; tickets will be honored for the rescheduled show.

Tuesday, March 23

  • Bob Weir and Wolf Brothers concert at the Palace Theatre in Albany has been postponed; new show date is Oct. 28

Saturday, March 28

  • “Scots-Irish Revolutionaries of Corry’s Brook (Currybush)" presentation with Terry McMaster at the Schenectady County Historical Society; postponed until early 2021

Sunday, March 29

  • Albany Pro Musica’s “Legacy” performance at Troy Savings Bank Music Hall; tickets for the original performance date will be honored for the rescheduled date. 

Saturday, April 4

  • “Water in the Erie Canal” with Craig Williams at the Schenectady County Historical Society; postponed until early 2021

Wednesday, April 8

  • Circa Survive concert at Upstate Concert Hall in Clifton Park.
