ALBANY - The number of positive COVID-19 cases in Albany County has grown to 15, county officials said Monday.

One of those 15, one remains hospitalized and is receiving care.

An additional 90 people are under mandatory quarantine and 367 are under precautionary quarantine, officials said.

Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy also announced that the Department of Social Services will continue to work with clients, but mainly by phone. The new guidelines are available on the county's site, www.albanycounty.com/covid-19.

"As testing for COVID-19 continues to increase, we are seeing more and more positive cases in Albany County, across the region, the state and the country. We are now in a phase of community mitigation where we need to stop the spread from close contact between individuals in large gatherings," McCoy said in a statement.

"Social distancing is a critical tool that will ultimately save lives," McCoy said.

McCoy also commended Gov. Andrew Cuomo for restricting operations of restaurants, gyms and movie theaters. Effective at 8 p.m. Monday, bars and restaurants will be restricted to takeout and delivery only, while theaters, gyms and casinos will close entirely for at least two weeks.

The county also asked for any volunteers for the Albany County Medical Reserve Corps to help with the COVID-19 response. Anyone interested is asked to call the Department of Health's MRC coordinator at 518-447-4610 or register online at AlbanyCounty.com.
