A Schenectady police officer has tested positive for coronavirus, a police spokesman said Saturday night.

Sgt. Matthew Dearing said Police Chief Eric Clifford told him the city Police Department will comply with all New York State Department of Health and U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines regarding a police officer testing positive for COVID-19, but could not articulate those guidelines Saturday night.

"There's not going to be any disruption of [police service] whatsoever," Dearing said.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Saturday during his daily COVID-19 press conference confirmed that approximately 500 New York City Police Department employees have tested positive for COVID-19.
