ROTTERDAM - A man was shot in the shoulder Tuesday in Rotterdam in a shooting police indicated resulted from a domestic dispute, police said.

The man injured, 32, suffered injuries described by police as non-life-threatening. He was taken to Albany Medical Center for treatment.

Police identified the man arrested as Hayward Mason, 66, of 127 Gordon Road. He faces one count of first-degree assault, a felony. Further charges are possible, police said.

The incident happened just after 2 p.m. Tuesday at 127 Gordon Road. Police were called there at about 2:20 p.m. for a reported shooting, police said.

Dispatchers received information that a male victim had been shot as a result of a domestic dispute, police said. 

Officers arrived, located the victim and Rotterdam EMS took him to Albany Med.

Police also soon took Mason into custody. He was transported to the Schenectady County Jail pending arraignment.

The investigation is continuing.
