SCHENECTADY — A man has been taken into custody and charged in connection with the slaying of a local artist last month.

Marlone F. Oindo was arrested Friday morning and charged with killing Duane Todman, who was fatally shot May 23 at the corner of Craig and Stanley streets in the city’s Hamilton Hill neighborhood, authorities said.

Oindo has been charged with second-degree murder, first-degree criminal use of a firearm and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

He was arraigned Friday at City Court and remanded the Schenectady County Jail.

Todman, 27, was recalled by friends and colleagues as a talented painter.

An art show has been slated for July 11 at Albany Center Gallery for Todman, a Lodi, New Jersey native.

All proceeds will go to his family to continue his legacy through the Duane X Arts Foundation Duane Todman Art Scholarship.
