LOUDONVILLE — Siena men’s basketball transfer Don Carey has committed to Georgetown.
Carey, Siena’s fourth-leading scorer last season, announced his intention last week to transfer. The rising redshirt junior will be immediately eligible as a graduate transfer and will have two years of eligibility remaining.
Carey announced his commitment Tuesday on his Instagram account.
A 6-foot-5 guard, Carey was Siena’s fourth-leading scorer last season at 11.3 ppg. The Maryland native returns close to home to play for Basketball Hall of Famer Patrick Ewing at Georgetown. Carey joins a Hoyas team that went 15-17 last season.
After playing at Mount St. Mary’s as a freshman, Carey transferred to Siena prior to the 2018-19 season when Mount St. Mary’s coach Jamion Christian made the move to Siena. Carey sat out that season, which turned out to be Christian’s lone season with the Saints before leaving to take the head coaching job at George Washington.
The scholarship left open at Siena by Carey’s transfer was filled last week when Belmont graduate transfer guard Nick Hopkins announced his commitment to join the Saints.
