NORTHUMBERLAND - A Gansevoort man faces multiple charges, including felony assault, after a domestic dispute early Thursday, Saratoga County Sheriff's officials said.

William A. Sawka, 38, of Gansevoort, was charged with second-degree assault, a felony, along with misdemeanor menacing, reckless endangerment, criminal mischief, obstructing and criminal possession of a weapon.

Deputies responded to Circle Drive in Northumberland Thursday morning just before 2:30 a.m., officials said.

Sawka is accused of brandishing a knife toward another person, striking another to their head with a folding chair, puncturing the tire on a car and causing injury to the arresting deputy, officials said.

A release did not describe the deputy's injury further.

Sawka was arraigned and ordered held on bail.
