A firefighter from Toronto who was reported missing last week after last being seen at Whiteface Mountain has been found in Sacramento, California, state police said.

Constantinos “Danny” Filippidis, 49, made contact Tuesday with authorities in California, ending a 5 1/2 day search by multiple agencies at the Wilmington ski resort. He is in good health, state police said.

Filippidis is a captain with Toronto Fire Services, according to Chief Matthew Pegg.

Frank Ramagnano, president of the Toronto Professional Fire Fighters’ Association, said at a news conference — broadcast live by My NBC5 — that Filippidis was confused:

"He wasn't able to give direct answers," Ramagnano said. "The police that eventually made contact with him were concerned."

He was found alone, Ramagnano said, wearing the same clothing in which he went skiing.

Pegg said in a Twitter post that Filippidis "is in the care" of Sacramento police:

The case is under investigation and further details will be released at a later time, state police said.
