Folks in Schenectady have long known their way around a hearty plate of meat and pasta, a delicate piece of fish or a fragrant Middle Eastern dish, and the city's wide variety of food offerings has been and will remain one of the city's top selling points, for both residents and visitors.
They know that at Discover Schenectady, Schenectady County's revamped visitor and tourism promotion program, which has been transformed over the last year with the opening of Rivers Casino giving the city a new destination.
The bureau's executive director, city native Becky Daniels, is a self-identified foodie, so one of the bureau's first initiatives is a series of short videos focusing on profiles of some of the chefs and restaurants that make the reputation of the city and surrounding area called #SchenectadEATS.
A new website just went into operation. The first video, of the Water's Edge Lighthouse Restaurant in Glenville, has been posted to Facebook. There will be a lot more food videos to come.
