Codie Bascue just missed a spot on the U.S. bobsled team in 2014. Four years later, in his first Olympic competition, the 23-year-old on Sunday had residents in one Washington County town on the edges of their seats.

ESPN senior writer Steve Wulf was in Whitehall on Sunday as hundreds gathered to watch Bascue compete in the two-man bobsled event.

Bascue, who was driving the USA No. 1, did not advance after Sunday and Monday's runs, but will get another chance in the four-man bobsled event late Friday in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

Wulf did an excellent job of capturing the spirit in Whitehall. You can read his whole report here.
