After a two-year, pandemic-induced hiatus, the Schenectady Takes Action for Reading Success program, or STARS, returned to the SiCM food pantry along Albany Street. The program was created in 2018 by the Schenectady County Public Library and provides children up to age 8 with free, culturally-diverse books -- that they can keep -- as a way to promote reading and learning.
