The Problem Of Illegal Immigration In The U.S.

Guest Author

There is just one way to say this. America has a big problem with unauthorized immigrants. Simply said, there are a lot of them. A while back people would come to the United States to work, connect with their families or avoid catastrophe. Today, they come to look for a better life. An unauthorized immigrant is a person who moves to this country without proper papers and documents. In 2017 there were 45 million undocumented people. This is 14% overpopulation. Believe it or not, 28% of the population or 90 million are immigrants or their children who were born in the United States. The number of immigrants in the u.s. has been growing as such immigration system needs to be completely changed and adapted.

The best way to learn all about this issue and also to be creative is to read and write an essay. These days essays on illegal immigration are very common due to the fact they try to find an answer to the questions and also to provide more awareness about the problem. If you are writing this, make a statement that millions of unauthorized people come to the U.S. on a regular basis.

Not all people coming to the States are the same

It is important to tell the difference between individuals who come here. First, we have a refugee who comes to the states to avoid war, death, or something similar. Some of these come from the northern triangle but many come from other parts of the world and they usually pass the southern border. These are usually some of the most dangerous places to live in the world. If you are a refugee you can apply to the United Nations’ High Commissioner for Refugees which will significantly speed up the process.

Asylum seekers always seek this type of protection from within the U.S. These need international protection due to the fact their safety is compromised in their home. Usually, people seeking asylum start as undocumented immigrants and they apply for asylum. They need protection due to political issues, religion, or something else. All of you can apply for asylum and this is a long process but it can be done quickly if needed. Keep in mind that a person must meet a strict and complicated set of rules set by the States in order to apply and get approval.

Migrants are looking for a job in the states and they make up a big part of the population. Most come from Mexico, El Salvador, etc. Some live 10 years or longer without any papers. Pew research suggests that they prefer living in Arizona, Texas, and a few other states. And the last type are obvious who are seeing permanent relocation in order to avoid some issues at home or settle for a better life. All of these have human rights.

Why are people coming here?

Undocumented residents are coming as we speak and the numbers are made to look big but they are becoming even bigger as we speak. The U.S. has a big problem here or is it? First of all, you need to understand why they are coming here.

There are a lot of reasons why so many people come here and start a new life. The most common are work, public safety, and health. Of course, some come to meet and connect to their families but this number is smaller than the others. According to research This United place on the planet offers a high quality of life where people are feeling safe, can afford all the things they want and the risk or danger, in general, is much lower than in their home’s. The population will increase as a result. As you can see immigration is sometimes the only way to get a better life and this usually involves coming to the U.S. If you like to live in the U.S. you will need to adapt. Undocumented residents do not have all the rights as Americans and their life may be very difficult at first.

Not all people coming here are adult men. There has been an increase in children and women coming here as well. The reasons are usually the same. They seek better life and safety that are both unavailable in their home.

The final word

As you can see immigration is needed for some people and key findings suggest that more and more individuals will take this step. Should we share our home and do something about it or make a clear full stop? Reform bill may change this but at the moment there is no need to tell for certain. It depends on who you ask and there are 2 options, obviously. What do you think should be done and how you would solve this problem if it is a problem at all?
